Ophthalmology
Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine and surgery which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. An ophthalmologist is a specialist in ophthalmology.
Oral and maxillo-facial surgery (OMFS)
The team supports patients with oral and maxillo-facial problems, including restorative dentistry. We provide clinics for our patients in the outpatients departments at the Lister and New QEII hospitals, with any operations carried out in the day surgery units at the Lister.
Orthopaedics
Our Trust has 14 orthopaedic consultants whose specialist interests range from routine to more specialist areas – including upper limb, lower limb, spine and back, complex hip and hand and wrist
Outpatients
The Treatment Centre provides the following Outpatient services: Pre and Post Surgery Appointments Physical and Occupational Therapy
Palliative and end of life care
Palliative care describes care given to relieve symptoms rather than treat the cause of an illness, the aim of which is to improve the quality of life of a patient who has a life-limiting illness.
Pathology
The Trust’s phlebotomy department supports phlebotomy services in virtually every GP practice within East and North Hertfordshire. Phlebotomists are trained to take a small amount of blood from patients for examination in a laboratory.

Paul Strickland Scanner centre
Paul Strickland Scanner Centre is a specialist medical imaging centre working as an independent charity to improve the lives of people affected by cancer and other serious conditions. The centre’s team provides the best possible patient care using high quality imaging equipment, and by being actively involved in medical research.
