The New QEII Hospital Community Diagnostic Centre is a one-stop-shop for checks, scans and tests.
Based at the New QEII Hospital in Welwyn Garden City, you may be asked to attend an appointment at the centre if you have been referred to East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust for a diagnostic test.
This could, for example, be for an X-ray or a CT, ultrasound or MRI scan.
For directions and parking, please visit the ‘getting here’ webpage within the New QEII Hospital section of our website.
The centre uses the latest technology to carry out appropriate tests.
One example is the liver FibroScan – a machine which can painlessly diagnose cirrhosis and significant liver damage in minutes.
Consultant Hepatologist Dr Paul Kooner said: “Liver disease is a silent killer, with deaths on the increase due to risk factors including obesity, diabetes and alcohol excess.
“Through this pathway our team of nurse specialists and hepatologists are on hand to rapidly assess, advise and monitor patients identified to be at risk. We are pleased to be able to bring this service closer to our community and, with support and screening by primary care colleagues, to start turning the tide in the battle against liver disease.”
