Coroners are independent judicial officers who investigate deaths which appear to be of an unknown cause, sudden, unexpected or unnatural. In some cases, they may also investigate if the deceased underwent surgery or had a recent fall which has contributed to their death and appears on the Medical Certificate of Cause of Death (MCCD).
If your loved one requires a referral to the coroner’s office this will be completed by your assigned medical examiner officer. They will speak to you first to discuss the reason for the referral and what will happen next. However should you wish to speak to the coroners service you can contact them on 01707 292 707 between the hours of 8am-4.30pm or via email: [email protected]
