At East and North Hertfordshire Teaching NHS Trust (ENHT), we are conducting a controlled trial of ambient voice technology (AVT). This will give us a better understanding of how this technology can help support our clinicians during patient appointments.
AVT is a secure digital tool that uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to listen to and record the conversation during an appointment or consultation and helps clinicians create notes and a follow up letter.
Clinicians review the draft letter and make any changes necessary. AVT does not make decisions about patient care and does not replace clinical oversight.
The aim is to give clinicians more time to focus on their patients and less time making notes. By reducing the administrative work involved in documenting appointments, AVT helps clinicians spend more time listening, talking, and providing care.
We are starting with a controlled AVT trial of in our Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) clinics, and appointments for pre-operative assessment (POA – before you have surgery).
