Our Neonatal Unit at the Lister Hospital provides specialist care for premature babies, newborn babies who are unwell, and those who require additional support after birth. The unit is located within the maternity building, ensuring close links with our maternity and obstetric services.
We understand that having a baby admitted to the neonatal unit can be an unexpected and emotional experience. Our dedicated team of neonatal doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, and support staff are committed to providing the highest standard of care for your baby while supporting you and your family every step of the way.
If there is a possibility that your baby will require neonatal care following birth, we will offer you the opportunity to visit the unit before delivery whenever possible. This can help you become familiar with the environment, meet members of the neonatal team, and ask any questions you may have.
We believe parents are an essential part of their baby’s care. From the earliest opportunity, we encourage you to be involved in caring for your baby, including feeding, nappy changing, skin-to-skin contact, and participating in decisions about their care. We are committed to family-integrated care and supporting the important bond between you and your baby.
In addition to inpatient neonatal care, we also provide a Neonatal Outreach Service, supporting families as their babies transition safely from hospital to home.
