The research team at the trust proudly established a Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) in Research Panel back in 2019.
The PPI in research panel is made up of active members and meets three times a year to review sponsored studies led by East and North Hertfordshire NHS Teaching Trust.
So far, we have reviewed over 50 studies led by ENHT investigators, ranging from tinnitus to dialysis studies, from randomised controlled trials to realist evaluation studies. The panel are supported to review this work.
We hold evening meetings with interesting presentations from investigators, presentations about different types of research methods and how to participate in PPI activities.
This panel makes meaningful contributions to the design of studies. The panel suggest ways to approach patients, or outcomes to collect. They ask challenging and important questions about ethical implications, and what the study might lead to in clinical practice.
