Pre-registration / undergraduate team
The Pre-registration Team supports students undertaking clinical placements within the East and North Hertfordshire Teaching NHS Trust. We maintain strong partnerships with academic institutions acting as a strategic conduit to ensure seamless communication and collaboration throughout the placement process.
Our mandate is to safeguard a safe, supportive, and enriching learning environment that enables students to develop their clinical competencies in alignment with professional standards. We proactively monitor student progress, swiftly address any issues, and work closely with clinical teams to uphold excellence in both education and patient care.
Beyond student support, we spearhead initiatives to empower practice supervisors and provide comprehensive training for practice assessors. This ensures they are fully equipped to execute their roles effectively, thereby enhancing the quality and consistency of student supervision and assessment.
Through these efforts, the Pre-registration team fosters an optimal clinical learning experience that nurtures the next generation of healthcare professionals while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and clinical governance in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Standards for Student Supervision and Assessment.

Preceptorship / newly qualified nurses team
The Preceptorship Team is a specialised group dedicated to supporting Newly Qualified Registered Nurses as they transition from student to professional practitioner.
We provide structured and comprehensive preceptorship sessions designed to facilitate this critical phase of their career development. Our programs are fully aligned with the policies and protocols set forth by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), ensuring adherence to the highest professional standards.
In addition to delivering these sessions, we offer personalised guidance to preceptees, helping them identify and complete essential training tailored to their specific departmental roles. This targeted support enables nurses to build confidence, competence, and clinical expertise in a safe and supportive environment.
Furthermore, we also provide a service known as Beyond Preceptorship, which offers ongoing support to any NMC registered practitioner. This program assists individuals in navigating their current roles while preparing them to explore and pursue new career opportunities that align with their professional aspirations.
Our ultimate goal is to ensure that nurses at all stages of their career are well-equipped to provide safe, effective, and high-quality care. By fostering continuous professional growth and reinforcing best practices, the preceptorship team plays a vital role in enhancing patient outcomes and supporting the development of a resilient and adaptable nursing workforce.
