The Trust is lucky to have the support of two craft groups who meet on a regular basis in Stevenage, producing crafted items for patients in the Lister Hospital.
Knit ‘n’ Natter
This group meets every Tuesday morning from 10.00-12.00 in the coffee shop of Tesco, Stevenage. They support our patients by making knee blankets, shawls, teddy bears and other cuddly toys, all of which are given to patients to keep. The goods are in high demand in the hospital and we are very grateful for everything they make for us.
If you enjoy knitting or crocheting, and would like to spend a couple of hours each week having coffee and chatting with friendly and like-minded people, do pop along to the Tesco Café and say hello. Alternatively, you can call Voluntary Services on 01438 284715 or 01438 284760 and we will put you in touch.
If you enjoy using a needle and thread and looking for an opportunity to put your skills to good use, why not join our Sew Dementia group who make sensory blankets and books for our patients living with dementia? These items are gifted to patients, and exploring them helps to reduce anxiety and gives restless hands something to do.
The group also makes other sewn items needed by the hospital – dolls and toys, syringe driver bags, canula covers and pillows for palliative care patients. Their work is invaluable to the well-being of many of our patients and we are so grateful for everything they do.
This friendly and welcoming group meets in the Community Arts Centre on the Roaring Meg Retail Park in Stevenage, Hertfordshire on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month from 10.00-12.00pm. Newcomers are welcome to drop in or call Voluntary Services on 01438 284715 or 01438 284760 and we will put you in touch with them.
