About us
We are a JAG-accredited Endoscopy unit running across two sites at the Lister and New QEII Hospital. Our state-of-the-art, purpose-built units are comprised of six procedure rooms with additional treatment rooms for specialist services. We are supported by a complement of dedicated staff comprising consultants, specialist nurses, endoscopy nursing staff, clinical support workers, porters, administrative, domestic staff and volunteers.
The Endoscopy Unit is part of a proud hospital taking part in pioneering research. We are fully equipped with the latest resources required for a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic interventions (most of which are carried out at the Lister’s endoscopy unit). These therapeutic procedures include: dilatation of strictures; insertion of oesophageal, biliary and colonic stents; laser treatment of tumours; percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) and endoscopic colopexy (PEC) tube insertion; polypectomy and endoscopic mucosal resection of polyps; and control of acute and chronic gastrointestinal bleeding.
