Chief Nurse Theresa Murphy explains the importance of Patient Experience Week
“We are marking Patient Experience Week (27 April to 1 May) across our hospitals. This is a national opportunity to celebrate the difference that NHS staff make to the people who use our services.
Patient experience is shaped by our everyday actions, the kindness we show, the respect we demonstrate, the way we listen, and the effort we make to see each patient as an individual. The contribution of every member of staff counts, whether they work clinically, or behind the scenes.
During the week, the following activities will be taking place:
- We are sharing a short survey to find out more about patient experience
- Showcasing the amazing patient experience work colleagues have contributed to over the past year.
- Sharing and learning from patient stories during team meetings
- Quality walkaround dedicated to patient experience
- Stalls in the maternity and main reception of Lister Hospital on Tuesday and Wednesday dedicated to speaking with patients and families.
Putting patient experience first is a top priority for our trust in 2026. If you have any feedback you would like to share with me as Chief Nurse, please do contact me via my Executive Assistant, Terri Field.
Thank you to trust colleagues for everything you do to make a positive difference to patients, families, and carers across our services. Patient Experience Week is a chance to shine a spotlight on the impact of our work.”
