Patients and visitors to Lister Hospital, Stevenage, are being advised to plan ahead as roadworks in the surrounding areas will likely cause delays from Tuesday 2 January 2024.
The Stevenage roadworks, part of Hertfordshire County Council’s improvements to cycling and walking in Stevenage, will mean several road closures nearby to the hospital.
North Road will be closed to traffic 24/7 in both directions between the junction with Rectory Lane to Pirton Close, including the Coreys Mill Lane junction.
The eastern side of Coreys Mill Lane will also be closed between the junction with North Road and Lister Hospital Main Entrance (Gate 5).
There will be no through-route between North Road and Coreys Mill Lane. Vehicle access to North Road via Gravely Road, A602 and Coreys Mill Lane will be maintained for hospital staff, hospital visitors, emergency vehicles, residents and deliveries only. Patients and visitors will still be able to access Lister’s multi-storey car park.
If you are visiting the Lister Hospital during the dates of the road works, we urge you to plan ahead for your journey, and allow extra time to make up for potential delays caused by Stevenage roadworks.
Emergency services are working closely with the council to ensure access is maintained for emergency ambulances.
