Knowing where to find reliable and trustworthy health information can be difficult, especially when you are anxious and faced with lots of different advice.
To mark Health Information Week, our trust has launched a year-long programme to review and improve the patient information we provide, ensuring it is clear, accessible and easy to find when patients need it most.
Patients often receive a lot of information during appointments, alongside leaflets or links to further guidance on our website. Improving the clarity and accessibility of this information, will help people to understand their treatment and make informed decisions.
The review is already underway, improving and updating the most popular patient information leaflets about medical conditions and treatments, while also reviewing how information is presented online to meet the latest clinical and accessibility standards.
The trust is inviting patients and members of the public to help shape this work. Members will be able to review draft leaflets and web pages and provide feedback.
Trust chair Anita Day said:
Making sure our patients have the right information at the right time is essential for both patient safety and a positive experience of care.
We know that medical information can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when people are anxious, so we are committed to making our leaflets and online information clear, accessible and genuinely helpful.
By working with our members and patients, we can make sure the information we provide really meets people’s needs – sign up to be a member and get involved.
Membership is always open to new applicants, and you can sign up on our website.
