Ms Sharma was appointed as consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust in 2017. She trained in the East of England deanery at hospitals including Watford General, Luton and Dunstable, and the Lister. She has worked at the gynaecology oncology unit at St Bartholomew’s hospital in London. She has completed advanced training modules in labour ward management, colposcopy and urogynaecology.
Ms Sharma has special interest in optimising obstetric care and prioritising on labour wards, so that women and babies have safer outcomes. She chairs a joint forum along with the neonatology team to improve perinatal care.
Ms Sharma is a BSCCP accredited colposcopist and offers diagnostic and therapeutic treatment to women with abnormal cervical smears.
She strongly believes in preventing complications through being proactive and working as a team. She is a member of the risk management group and lead for major obstetric haemorrhage review. Her aim is to provide a patient centred care that incorporates the National Collaborative for Better Births.
