I completed my CCST in General and Respiratory Medicine in March 2002. I remain interested in all aspects of General and Respiratory Medicine, but have had a consistent special interest in Lung Cancer, Lung Function, Interstitial lung disease and Medical Education. I work in both respiratory medicine and general medicine in large busy district general hospital. I routinely perform ward rounds and clinics.
I am also involved in both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. I have regular students from Universities- Collage London, Cambridge and Buckingham. In addition, I regularly contribute teaching for foundation programme, core medical training, and GP training. I supervise several junior doctors. I am PACE examiner for RCP London since 2011. I was elected for national educational committee at British Thoracic Society (BTS) on 2012-2015, and RCP General Internal Medicine Advisory committee on 2016. I sit on General Internal medicine Advisory Committee at RCP.
I have performed a lung cancer MD that I devised myself and was awarded my own grant by Department of Health. I continue involved in research in lung cancer and interstitial lung disease, and hence I was appointed as honorary senior lecturer at UCL in 2009, and Reader in 2013. My commitment to education and research, I was appointed as Professor of clinical Medicine (University of Buckingham) on 2013. I have published more than 40 peer reviewed papers with high impact journals and presented nearly 100 abstracts nationally and internationally.
As for leadership, I have numerous regional level leadership appointments such as Clinical Director for Regional Respiratory Network, Respiratory lead for Eastern Academic Health Science Network, CCG Board membership, and lung cancer site specific tumour group lead. Currently, I am leading STP cancer (Living with and beyond Cancer) work stream (2018-), and also leading the multidisciplinary diagnostic clinic for East and North Herts NHS Trust.
My other interests- I enjoy cookery and make dishes from a wide range of nationalities. I am very keen gardener and very much enjoy gardening. I enjoy looking after variety of fishes including tropical/ turtles/ marine and corals. I own a sophisticated sewing machine and enjoy all textile work, in particular making clothes.
