Dr Singhai has been a substantiative consultant physician/geriatrician since December 2009, initially at the Homerton University Hospital Foundation Trust in London. In November 2016, he joined the East and North Herts NHS Trust.
Dr Singhai undertook his undergraduate training at Kings College London. He completed his higher specialist training in the North East London region which provided excellent training in a broad range of geriatric and general internal medicine.
Dr Singhai’s main area of interest and expertise is in the management of Parkinson’s disease, including both motor and non motor problems (neuropsychiatric and cognitive problems). As lead of the Parkinson’s service at the Homerton Hospital, Dr Singhai worked on developing an innovative and more integrated patient centred service, with the specific aim of providing a multi-professional approaches to service delivery – which is crucial when managing people with Parkinson’s who have both motor and a variety of non motor problems. As a consequence of the collaborative work that he led on, the service was recognised as an example of good practice in terms of integrated working by UK Parkinson’s Excellence Network.
Dr Singhai is deeply committed to education and training and has been extensively involved in teaching, training and appraising activities during his time as a substantive consultant – with a particular focus on educational activities to enhance the skills and knowledge of primary care colleagues and community healthcare professionals and help them take on extended roles.
In terms of managerial and leadership activities, Dr Singhai has had extensive experience in introducing change, to help improve patient experience ,safety and outcomes in relation to developing the Parkinson’s/movement disorders service.
