Miss Shabnam Undre started with the Trust on 1 March 2015 as a consultant urological surgeon, with a special interest in paediatric urology. Miss Undre completed her urology training on the North-West London rotation. During this time she spent one year training in paediatric urology at Great Ormond Street Hospital. After completing her training in urology, Miss Undre was appointed as a post CCT fellow in paediatric urology and spent a further year at Great Ormond Street.
Miss Undre was then appointed as a locum consultant at Great Ormond Street in paediatric urology from April 2013 to September 2014 and then at UCLH in paediatric and adolescent urology from October 2014 to February 2015 before commencing her post with the Trust.
Miss Undre completed a PhD titled ‘Team work in the operating theatre’ and has carried on her work in the field after being awarded the PhD in 2007. She has published extensively on the subject and related patient safety topics and presented her work at national and international conferences. Miss Undre continues to be active in the field of patient safety and has been involved in research regarding WHO checklists and team briefing for surgery. She has written several book chapters, including on paediatric urology topics such as obstructive uropathy and posterior urethral valves. Currently she is an associate on the European Urology guidelines committee for paediatric urology. She continues to have links and honorary contracts with GOSH and UCLH for multidisciplinary discussions and for referral of complex cases, as well as with Imperial College for research.
Miss Undre will be practising general adult urology and is going to develop the paediatric urology services at the Lister hospital. This service will include paediatric cases such as orchidopexies, circumcisions, antenatal hydronephrosis, VUR, PUJ obstruction, dysfunctional voiding and hyspospadias.
