Ms Sawant was appointed as Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust in 2012. She trained in North West London Deanery at Hospitals including St Marys in London, Hillingdon, Northwick Park, University Hospital London and the Lister. She also pursued research at Imperial College.
She is Lead Consultant for early pregnancy and acute gynaecology problems. She is trained in ultrasound for early pregnancy and general gynaecology problems and trains doctors in our Early Pregnancy and Gynaecology Emergency Unit. She is trained in family planning (DFFP). She sees women with abnormal bleeding in outpatient hysteroscopy clinic. She holds a one stop gynaecology clinic in the community gynaecology CATS service based in St Albans.
Ms Sawant treats menstrual disorders, pelvic pain, benign ovarian cysts, fibroids, early stage endometriosis and early pregnancy pathologies. She performs abdominal and vaginal hysterectomy as well as minimal access (Laparoscopy and Hysteroscopy) surgery.
She aims to provide a one-stop, safe and clinically effective patient-centred service. She is a keen teacher and participates in multidisciplinary teaching on regional and national courses.
