Dr Axon was appointed as a Consultant Rheumatologist in 1994 at QEII and Hertford County hospitals. Since the merger of the former East Hertfordshire and North Hertfordshire NHS Trusts in April 2000 he has combined services with the Lister Hospital. He graduated in Medicine from Charing Cross Hospital, London in 1984. Dr Axon has a specialist interest in chronic spinal rehabilitation, inflammatory rheumatic disorders, osteoarthritis, sports injuries and sports medicine, but also soft tissue injuries and Paediatric Rheumatology. His research interests include pain management techniques in chronic arthritis conditions. He is also interested in medicolegal and negligence aspects of Medicine and works as an expert witness. Dr Axon is based at the QEII hospital but runs out reach clinics at Hertford County and Lister Hospital.
Since the Trusts merged in early 2000, I have combined with the service at the Lister.
We now have Rheumatology Nurses that run a helpline for all patients who experience problems between appointments
