Dr Evans joined East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust in 2018 where he works as a Consultant Gastroenterologist. His interests include oesophageal and gastric cancer, Barrett’s oesophagus and upper GI physiology testing for reflux.
He performs upper GI therapeutic endoscopy with laser, dilatation and stents. He also undertakes diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopy and is developing a physiology testing service for reflux and swallowing problems.
Dr Evans cares for inpatients and outpatients with general gastroenterological conditions including IBS, diarrhoea, constipation, inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease, Ulcerative colitis), Coeliac’s disease and weight loss.
Dr Evans obtained his BSc in Neurosciences in 1998 and qualified from Warwick Medical School in 2006. He trained in North West London between 2012 and 2018, working at centres of excellence including St Mark’s, St Mary’s and Royal London Hospitals. In 2018 Dr Evans gained his PhD from Queen Mary University of London for his research into Barrett’s oesophagus and its role in cancer development.
Dr Evans is the Endoscopy Training Lead for the trust and teaches on regional JAG accredited training courses for Upper GI endoscopy. He partakes in the Regional Upper GI Cancer Alliance and is the lead for the Regional Laser Service.
