The trust has appointed Simon Cox, founder and managing director of Hertfordshire land agency, Walter Cooper, chair of its new Philanthropy Board for their Children’s Big Build appeal.
Simon, who brings a wealth of experience, knowledge and enthusiasm to the role, has been a passionate supporter of the hospitals’ charity since 2020.
Eloise Huddleston, charity director, said: “We are honoured to have Simon chair this new Philanthropy Board. It will focus on raising funds for the Children’s Big Build project with local business and community networks.
“Simon is hugely successful and talented and with his extensive local contacts, he will ensure the board works hard to help raise the funds we need to turn this new children’s unit into the beautiful, welcoming space we all want it to be.”
The Children’s Big Build appeal is aiming to raise £2million to turn a new, purpose-built facility at Lister Hospital into a magical, state-of-the-art children’s unit.
Simon said: “As a local father of three, I feel personally invested in the new Lister children’s unit and I am determined to make this project the best it can be. This is a fantastic opportunity for us to create something truly incredible – a leading centre of excellence, built for the future of children’s healthcare. Together as a community, we can leave a lasting legacy for our children and for generations to come.”
East and North Hertfordshire Teaching NHS Trust has £11million to construct the two-storey building, which will include 20 inpatient beds, 14 consulting rooms and clinical assessment and care units.
The board will also include trust chair, Anita Day and representatives from the executive team.
