New Admiral Nurse provides additional dementia support to families

The Trust’s new Admiral Nurse, Hannah Gardner, is helping to provide additional support for patients with dementia and their families. The role, launched with support and funding from Dementia UK, has been created to help families and provide them with additional care and support, allowing them to live more positively with dementia – both in the present and longer term.


Diabetic eye screening team amongst best performers in England

The Trust’s diabetic eye screening team has been rated as one of the best performing services in England after taking part in Public Health England’s annual national audit. The audit looked at their performance between April 2016 and March 2017.

Lister hospital under extreme pressure – please keep A&E free for genuine emergencies

The Lister hospital in Stevenage is under extreme pressure, due to the number of very sick patients needing to be admitted.  Emergency department doctors are asking people not to go to A&E unless it’s a life or limb-threatening emergency, or if they have been advised to go there by a healthcare professional.

New QEII gains first Purple Star for supporting patients with learning disabilities

The ambulatory care team at the New QEII hospital have received a Purple Star award from Hertfordshire County Council’s Health and Community Services People for their work in improving services for people with learning with learning disabilities. This follows the successful completion of a programme by the Community Learning Disability Service to help the team improve the quality of care and treatment experienced by this very vulnerable group of individuals.
