GP Dr David Buckle has joined the Trust as an associate non-executive director. A GP in Woodley, Berkshire for over 30 years, David also has had a long career in clinical leadership and, subsequently, medical management.

Former Royal College of Nursing chief executive joins Trust Board

The Trust welcomes the appointment of former Royal College of Nursing (RCN) chief executive Peter Carter as a non-executive director. Peter, who has a life time’s experience in numerous healthcare leadership roles, will be a huge asset to the Trust.

Big Build appeal launched to raise money for new neonatal family room

The Lister’s hospital charity and the Neonatal Unit Families Group have launched an appeal aiming to raise money for a new neonatal family room at the hospital. The new room will provide a much larger space for families and includes a play area, kitchen and male shower facilities.

Spotting families with genetic diabetes can transform their care

Most people have heard of type-1 and type-2 diabetes, but there are other, rarer, forms of the condition caused by a change in a single gene, known as monogenic diabetes, which affects about 3.5% of those diagnosed with the condition. 

Identifying patients with monogenic diabetes, and confirming this by genetic testing, can lead to changes in their treatment that can help transform their lives – even when the genetic diagnosis is made years after the original diabetes diagnosis.


ED refurbishment aims to improve patient experience

A new app has been launched to help support young carers in Hertfordshire. The app, called Young Carers in Hertfordshire, provides information on a range of different subjects – including hospitals and mental health awareness.
