Ophthalmology gain Purple Star

The Lister’s ophthalmology team is celebrating after being presented with the Purple Star Award.

Above: The Purple Star Award was presented to Mr Michael Toma (consultant ophthalmologist and clinical director), Gavin Howcroft (expert by experience) and Louise Jenkins (strategic liaison nurse from the health liaison team)

The Purple Star, awarded by the health liaison team at Hertfordshire County Council, was given for the improvements the ophthalmology team has made to make sure the service they provide for patients with learning disabilities is adjusted to suit their needs.

The Trust’s director of nursing, Rachael Corser, said:

“This is a brilliant achievement for our team, recognising their hard work and dedication in meeting the requirements of the Purple Star Promise. It is another example of how we are continuing to improve the quality of care we provide and putting our patients first.”
