Lights, camera, action! Movie afternoons help improve patient experience

Movie afternoons have been introduced for inpatients at the Lister to help improve their experience and keep them active.

Taking place in the chapel, patients and their visitors have been treated to movies such as Matilda and Pride and Prejudice. Christmas movies have also begun this month in the lead up to the festive season.

The initiative was introduced by carers lead Jodie Deards. She said:

“Movie afternoons aim to keep semi-mobile patients active and help improve their experience during their time in hospital. With help from our voluntary services team, the afternoons have been running on a Tuesday and we aim to expand the programme to ward areas for patients who are too unwell to visit the chapel. The afternoons also allow us to identify visitors with a caring role so that we can signpost them to further support in the community if they need it.”
