Multiple pregnancy team rated exceptional by national charity

The Lister’s multiple pregnancy team has been rated as ‘exceptional’ by the Twins and Multiple Births Association (TAMBA), a leading national twins and triplets charity. This follows an audit of the service earlier this year.

Clinical director for obstetrics, Jasmine Leonce, said:

“This is a fantastic achievement and shows how well the service has improved over the past few years. For example, there has been a decrease in the number of women delivering their second twin through caesarean section after giving birth to the first naturally. The rate has fallen from 17% to 3%.

“The team has seen more than 100 women this year and each woman has been seen by the same midwife specialising in multiple births throughout their pregnancy – something they have found really beneficial.”

The multi-disciplinary team includes staff from a variety of different specialties, including a midwife, consultant obstetricians and sonographers. They are also supported by other colleagues, including the antenatal screening team.
