Lister’s carers support team looking for volunteers

The Lister’s carers support team is looking for volunteers to take part in a new project that aims to provide extra support to those caring for family members.

Volunteers will visit wards and outpatient clinics, speak to patients and identify those who are carers. The volunteers will be able to refer those who need extra support on to suitable organisations who can offer further advice and guidance.

Speaking about the project, carers lead Jodie Deards said:

“There are a large number of patients in hospital who have carers, whose needs have not been recognised. This amazing group of people often go unsupported, but they are integral in supporting our patients, both in hospital and at home. Caring can be hard work, but the support is out there.”

The Trust’s voluntary services manager, Janis Hall, said:

“The project will run initially as a pilot until July 2017 – with volunteers doing two hour shifts. We will provide training for new starters. If you think you can make a difference we would love to hear from you. You can call us (01438 284760) or email ( for an application pack.”
