“I had to wait a long time for blood tests in the pathology department when attending my antenatal clinic at the Lister Hospital”

We did

From December 2011 we started providing a phlebotomy service (taking blood for tests) in the antenatal clinic to help reduce the waiting times.

We are also working on reducing waiting times in the pathology department for other patients.  We are looking at options for different opening times to make it easier for patients to attend outside the busiest times.

“I was not told who to contact if I was worried about my condition or treatment after I left hospital”

We did

We have trialled ‘leaving hospital’ cards which were given to patients when they left the hospital.  We are introducing them in all areas of the Trust from April 2012.  The card has information about who to contact.

“It is difficult to get through to the right person if I need to change or cancel an outpatient appointment”

We did

From December 2011, we introduced a central point of contact for the main outpatient department.

The phone number is 01438 284444.  All the old numbers are automatically transferred to this number.

“There are not enough chairs in the waiting area of the Lister Emergency Department for people to sit down”

We did

We have ordered some more seating and it should be in place very soon.
