Our pharmacy service has departments at the Lister and QEII hospitals, as well as the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre. Between them they provide a range of services for the Trust’s patients as well as in the case of the Lister and QEII teams, for the mental health units at these hospitals run by the Hertfordshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. The same two pharmacy teams also provide services to some community hospitals and clinics, as well as to GPs.
Please note that the Trust’s pharmacy teams at the Lister, QEII and Mount Vernon can only dispense medications prescribed by hospital clinical staff – it is not possible to process prescriptions written by GPs, including GP out-of-hours services, or other community healthcare professionals. If you need to find a late opening high street pharmacy, please check out the information held by NHS Hertfordshire on its website.

Collecting your prescription
When collecting your hospital prescription, you can wait in one of our seating areas or drop your prescription off and return later to pick it up – it’s probably wise to ask a pharmacist when you should return!
If you receive a prescription at your outpatient appointment you will need to pay the standard prescription charge (unless you are exempt from charges). You can pay using cash or debit/credit card.
Pharmacy patient helpline
Our patient helpline (01438 286150) is available between 2.00 and 4.00pm, Monday to Friday. It is for members of the public who have any questions or are confused about the medication we have supplied to them.
