Diamond Jubilee Maternity Unit tours
Parents-to-be who plan to or are considering giving birth at the Lister hospital are welcome to join our weekly tours around the Diamond Jubilee Maternity Unit. We hope our tour will help you to prepare for your labour and birth and to understand what to expect when you come to the Lister hospital to have your baby.
These are held:
Wednesday, 6pm & 6:45pm.
Saturday and Sunday 3pm & 3:45pm
To join a tour, please book your place in advance by calling the maternity reception on 01438 284533.
Please note: Places need to be booked and are limited to a maximum of 10 couples (or mums-to-be and birthing partners) on each tour. Places are allocated on a first come, first served basis.

This class prepares mothers/parents-to-be for labour, the birth of their baby as well as early parenthood.
Breastfeeding is the best start in life for your babies and has long term health benefits for you too. This workshop offers a comprehensive look at the benefits of breastfeeding, how breastfeeding works and advice about avoiding common problems.

Acupuncture is an alternative medicine methodology originating in ancient China that treats patients by manipulating thin, solid needles that have been inserted into acupuncture points in the skin. According to Traditional Chinese medicine, stimulating these points can correct imbalances in the flow of qi through channels known as meridians.
The acupuncture clinic offers a 45 minute appointment with a trained acupuncturist.
Conditions suitable for treatment with acupuncture include:
- Nausea and vomiting
- Musculoskeletal conditions
- Tiredness and exhaustion
- Anxiety and depression
- Breech presentation
- Acupuncture for routine pre-birth treatment
- Induction and encouring spontaneous labour
- Teaching couple acupressure in labour
