Dermatology is a branch of medicine dealing with skin disease in people of all ages. Dermatologists identify and remove skin cancers, cysts and other skin growths, as well as helping to treat skin conditions such as:
- Skin allergies
- Fungal diseases
Services provided by the Trust’s dermatology team include:
- Minor operations (i.e. those involving a local anaesthetic)
- Phototherapy and photodynamic therapy (provided just at Hertford County)
- Patch testing and biologics
Patients are seen in the main outpatients departments by the consultants at the Lister, New QEII and Hertford County hospitals.
Patients being cared for by the dermatology team rarely need to admitted as an inpatient, but where necessary this would be at the Lister.
