We deal with all conditions affecting the heart, including coronary artery disease (the cause of angina and heart attacks), heart valve disease, heart rhythm disturbances (arrhythmias), heart muscle problems (e.g. heart failure) and high blood pressure (hypertension). The department is led by a team of 6 consultants, supported by junior doctors and cardiac specialist nurses. We provide a full range of investigations and treatment for outpatients and inpatients, including:

Cardiology outpatients are seen at the Lister, QEII or Hertford County hospitals. Outpatient investigations are based at the Lister hospital (Level 9) or QEII hospital (Level 3). The cardiac catheter suite (for angiography, angioplasty or pacemakers) is on Level 2, Lister hospital. Inpatient services are based at the Lister hospital (Level 9).
