The current A&E service at the QEII supports adults between 8.00am and 8.00pm daily, but only for minor injuries overnight. The children’s A&E service is 24/7, but for minor injuries only for those aged over 12 months.

Day time (8.00am to 8.00pm) – Current A&E service
Night time (8.00pm to 8.00am) – Minor injuries only
A&E services for children (aged 12 months to 16 years)
24 hours a day treats minor injuries only
Babies aged up to 12 months
No service – they should be taken to the Lister’s specialist 24/7 children’s emergency department
Adults, children and babies with serious injuries or illnesses
Call 999 if the injury or condition is very serious or life-threatening or go to a full nearby 24/7 hospital emergency department, which normally will be at the Lister in Stevenage.
Adults, children and babies with minor illnesses
During the day, please contact your GP.
At night or weekends, contact the GP out of hours service by calling 03000 333 333 or NHS Direct (0845 46 47)
