QEII – A&E / Emergency department

The current A&E service at the QEII supports adults between 8am and 8pm daily, but only for minor injuries overnight.  The children’s A&E service is 24/7, but for minor injuries only for those aged over 12 months.

A&E / Emergency department services

Adults Children Babies
  • Day time (8am to 8pm) – Current A&E service.
  • Night time  (8pm to 8am) – Minor injuries only  
Aged 12 months to 16 years:

  • 24 hours a day
  • Treats minor injuries only

  

Aged up to 12 months:

  • No service
  • They should be taken to the Lister’s specialist 24/7 children’s A&E

 

Serious injuries or illnesses

Adults, children and babies – Call 999 if the injury or condition is very serious or life-threatening or go to a full nearby 24/7 hospital emergency department, which normally will be at the Lister in Stevenage.

Minor illnesses

Adults, children and babies – During the day, please contact your GP. At night or weekends, contact the GP out of hours service or NHS 111. Check Symptoms website also offers health advice and you can check your symptoms with their online self help guide.
