Changes at the Lister

Over the next few years there are going to be considerable changes at the Lister and QEII hospitals.  The projects which are completed or underway currently at the Lister include:

  • Phase 0 – Electrical infrastructure replacement and Combined Heat and Power Plant
  • Phase 1 – Lister Surgicentre
  • Phase 2 - Maternity services consolidation (includes new maternity block)
  • Phase 3 - Multi-storey car park

To support the final consolidation of the two hospitals on the Lister site, we need to reconfigure the site considerably – this is known as phase 4.  The outline business case for phase 4 was approved in September 2010 by the Trust Board, NHS Hertfordshire (PCT) and NHS East of England (SHA). Final approval was received on 4 August 2011 by the Department of Health and HM Treasury. The phase 4 programme consists of the following eleven projects:
