Over the next few years there are going to be considerable changes at the Lister and QEII hospitals. The projects which are completed or underway currently at the Lister include:
- Phase 0 – Electrical infrastructure replacement and Combined Heat and Power Plant
- Phase 1 – Lister Surgicentre
- Phase 2 - Maternity services consolidation (includes new maternity block)
- Phase 3 - Multi-storey car park
To support the final consolidation of the two hospitals on the Lister site, we need to reconfigure the site considerably – this is known as phase 4. The outline business case for phase 4 was approved in September 2010 by the Trust Board, NHS Hertfordshire (PCT) and NHS East of England (SHA). Final approval was received on 4 August 2011 by the Department of Health and HM Treasury. The phase 4 programme consists of the following eleven projects:
