We are part of the East of England Health Libraries Network, comprising 29 separate NHS libraries, which provide free access to books, journals and online resources to all NHS staff and students. We’re here to help you find the information you need quickly to support your work, professional development and patient care.
Our libraries can be found at the Lister hospital and Mount Vernon Cancer Centre – you can find our opening times and how to contact us in the information panel on the right hand side of this web page. Our libraries are located in the postgraduate centres at the Lister and Mount Vernon.
A bit more about us….
All our services are free to NHS staff who are members of the library. It’s easy to join – just bring in your ID badge and fill in a membership form. Membership of the library is open to:
- Trust staff
- Staff of the Hertfordshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust staff, along with those working for other NHS organisations and groups locally
- General Practitioners
- Community NHS and social care staff
- Local hospice staff
- Students on clinical placements
Full membership allows staff to have up to six books on loan for four weeks and up to three renewals of our books. Students are entitled to borrow up to four books on loan for four weeks, along with up to three renewals of our books.
Out-of-hours access can be arranged for Trust staff with a valid ID badge – please ask a member of staff for further information. Unfortunately, we can’t offer this service to anyone without a valid ID badge for the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust.
Most library resources can be accessed at work or at home with an NHS Athens login. Don’t have one? Then register online now.
To renew, request and search our book catalogue, login with the username and PIN provided on your library card which is given to members when they join.
