Biography

Dr Ellis the newest consultant rheumatologist in our department and was appointed in July 2001. He is based at the Lister hospital and works dually as a rheumatologist and a general physician, responsible for inpatients with a wide variety of medical disorders.

Dr Ellis trained at St. Georges Hospital, Tooting and qualified in 1981. He undertook his speciality training in the North East Thames area between 1996 and 2001. Dr Ellis has particular interests in rheumatic disorders which affect a variety of systems and organs in the human body, such as systemic lupus erythematosus and vasculitis. He also has an interest in the association of such conditions with other medical problems, including heart disease.

Dr Ellis is involved closely in medical education at all levels and holds the position of honorary senior lecturer in affiliation with the Royal Free/UCL Medical School. He is dedicated to the improvement and development of patient care and our local rheumatology services and currently is associate clinical director for speciality medicine within the Trust.
