Biography

Dr Paul Warwicker is a Consultant Nephrologist and Clinical Director of the Lister Renal Units. He qualified in medicine at St Bartholomew’s Hospital School of Medicine, London, in 1987 and has trained in nephrology from Brighton on the south coast of England to Middlesbrough and Newcastle in the north- east. He was appointed consultant nephrologist at the Lister in 1998.

Whilst in Newcastle in the mid 1990s his research in molecular genetics applied to nephrology with Professors Tim and Judith Goodship led to the genetic mapping of the familial form of atypical haemolytic uraemic syndrome (aHUS) and the descriptions of the first aHUS-related mutations and polymorphisms in the factor H gene.  His other interests include haemodialysis, and vascular access for haemodialysis.  He is also a published author.
