Volunteer FAQs

These are some of the frequently asked questions we receive from would-be volunteers. Read on – it might just help you make your mind up.

Q. Will it cost me money to volunteer?
A. No. We will pay your travel expenses up to a given limit.

Q. How will I know what to do?
A. You will have a task description that outlines your role. You will have someone who supervises you and we will provide any training that you need to get the job done. The voluntary services team will always be happy to help you with any queries or problems.Front entrance volunteers

Q. Will I be able to choose how many hours I come in for?
A. Yes. Our volunteer placements are tailored to suit the department and the hours you can spare.

Q. How much time will I need to give?
A. As much as suits you. We require 3-4 hours a week to start with and ask you to commit to a minimum of 6 months.

Q. What happens if I don’t like my voluntary role?
A. We would try our best to find you something more suitable.

Q. Will I be able to take long holidays?
A. Yes. As a volunteer you can take all the holidays you want. We just ask you to let your department know in advance.
