The East & North Herts Hospitals Charity is delighted to announce that the new playroom at the Lister hospital is now officially open. This new facility costing £250,000 was made possible from a fantastic group of local fundraisers, which included: charitable trusts; local companies; community groups; schools; and friends of the hospital.
We would like to thank everyone who fundraised for the appeal. Your support has enabled us to provide the 3,000 children who use the Lister’s children’s ward every year with a playroom that is modern, spacious and – most importantly of all – great fun to play in!
- It is 55% larger than the previous playroom, giving children and their families much more space to play in.
- There is a separate room for teenagers fully equipped with games and computers to enable them to continue with their studies whilst they are in hospital.
- There is a brand new sensory room filled with state-of-the-art sensory equipment, ideal for children with special needs and to help children relax in a calming but stimulating environment.
- A new lounge area where families can relax and play together.
Please don’t forget though that the children’s ward still needs your support. The playroom will always need new toys, especially DVD players, DVDs, Wii games, books, puzzles and arts and crafts materials. If you would like to make a gift in kind donation to the children’s ward, please note that we only accept new toys and to meet infection control standards, everything must be washable and wipe-able.
