New appointment text reminder service launched

1 in 10 people miss their appointment, simply because they forgot – which is why the Trust has launched a new text reminder service for the majority of outpatient appointments at the Lister, New QEII and Hertford County hospitals. More services will be included over the next few months.

Each patient will receive two free text reminders – one seven days before their appointment date and one 24-hours beforehand. The text at seven days will give patients an option to respond with one of the following options – “Yes” to confirm an appointment, “Rebook” to rearrange or “Cancel” if the appointment is no longer needed.  Each reply must be followed by the four-digit code sent in the original text – for example, a correct reply would be “Yes 1234”. You do not need to reply to the second reminder.

Patients can opt-out of the service by responding with “STOP” to the initial text.

If you have any questions about the service, please call the number on your appointment letter.
