Teaching skills recognised by UCL Medical School

Having been awarded an Excellence in Medical Education Award for 2017/18 from University College London, Trust consultant vascular surgeon, Matt Metcalfe’s contribution to teaching new doctors has received well-deserved recognition from one of the country’s top medical schools. With only a few of these awards given every year by UCL, it shows how highly Matt’s education of medical students is rated.

Involved in medical education for the last six years, Matt – who is based at the Lister – is one of the Trust’s clinical skills tutors. He has organised many local and regional practical workshops. As a Royal College of Surgeons tutor, he has also facilitated and delivered both teaching and support for teams and individuals, ranging from medical students to consultants. Matt lectures regularly to allied health care professionals and to the national aneurysm screening programme.
