Assistant practitioner Darren Smith has been shortlisted in the Student Nurse of the Year: Adult category at this year’s Student Nursing Times Awards 2017.
Darren has been recognised for his outstanding contributions, going the extra mile for both staff and patients. He has mentored other care assistants, fund raised and helped organise patients’ holiday dialysis when they have struggled to do so.

Reflecting on Darren’s achievement, senior sister Mandy Northover said:
“I was not surprised to hear that Darren had been nominated for Student of the Year. I knew he was special from the moment he joined the Trust. As his line manager, I feel very proud and lucky to have him on my team. I’d like to congratulate him on his nomination and wish him the very best at the ceremony.”
The Student Nursing Times Awards 2017 will be taking place Thursday 27 April in London.
