Trust seeks talented nurses to join its team

The Trust has launched a recruitment drive to bring more nurses and clinical support workers to its wards at the Lister hospital in Stevenage.  The campaign, which started on 6 October 2014, will run through to the end of the month, with the roles available – which cover a wide range of nursing and clinical support worker posts – being advertised in both national specialist and local media.

Nurse recruitment campaign

The Trust’s director of nursing, Angela Thompson, said,  “We have wonderful teams of hugely talented nurses and clinical support workers, and we recognise what an important role our nursing staff play in making sure our patients receive high quality care.  Following their expansion, some specialties that we are particularly keen to recruit to are cardiology, renal, chemotherapy and emergency nursing.”

“Whilst our staffing levels – especially on our wards – are safe already, we do have vacancies that are being covered by temporary nursing staff.  It’s better for our patients, as well as being more cost-effective, if we fill these vacancies with permanent team members.  By doing this, it helps us to ensure that we are providing consistently the very best care to our patients – and that’s why we’re working hard to bring new, talented nurses to the Lister.”

Trust director of workforce and organisational development, Thomas Simons, said, “Now that all of our inpatient and emergency services have come together at the Lister, following the investment of £150 million in major new facilities, it’s time we turned our attention to making sure all of our teams are as strong as they can be.”
