Lister’s new £18.6 million ward block set to open to patients

The Trust’s contractors – Integrated Health Projects – have completed the building of the Lister’s new £18.6 million 62-bed ward block.  It is now being prepared by the Trust’s staff so that it is ready to take its first patients from early July 2014.  The new ward block will have:

  • An acute medical unit on the ground floor with 24 beds and 14 specialist trolleys that will be used by staff to manage acutely unwell patients referred by GPs, as well as those transferred from the Lister’s new emergency department.  This facility opens on 10 July 2014;
  • The block’s first floor, which will have 38 beds, provides a new acute cardiac unit with facilities for treating cardiology patients that opens on 8 July 2014;
  • Over 50% of inpatients in the block will have access to their own en suite bathroom.
