Lister the Lion leaps into the children’s emergency department

Overnight on Thursday, 10 April 2014, the next set of planned changes happen for the Lister’s emerging new £19 million emergency department, which will be ready finally by October this year.  The next set of changes will see:

  • Children’s emergency service moving to its temporary home (whilst its new longer-term location is refurbished/created) overnight on Thursday, 10 April 2014, with the service operational in its new location in the department from Friday, 11 April;
  • Adult majors expands in to their refurbished area, again overnight on Thursday, 10 April 2014 ready for being operational on Friday, 11 April;
  • Adult minors move to their temporary home in the department’s new extension overnight on Friday, 11 April 2014, so that it is ready from Saturday, 12 April.

Throughout this period, all these emergency services will continue to be available to patients, whether in their existing or new locations.  Also once these changes have been made, there will be no access to the rest of the hospital via the emergency department.

And to help children and their parents find their way to the right place, a new friend – Lister the Lion – will be on hand to help guide them.
